— Nathalia, Yoga Teacher, Cambridge
"Floss dives deep into the philosophy and history of yoga in a way that I haven’t experienced elsewhere. Not only does she eloquently present the course material, Floss unpicks the nuances between various yoga styles in a respectful and thoughtful manner, weaving history, theology, philosophy and more to achieve this. This extends beyond the lectures and into the participant discussions too. I have learnt far more on this topic from this course than in my yoga teacher training and would recommend it to anyone teaching or practising yoga who is looking to deepen their knowledge and is ready to explore this subject in an opened-minded manner."
About
I’m Floss, a yoga teacher and philosopher trained at the University of Cambridge, working at the intersection of embodied practice and critical thought. I teach yoga, yoga philosophy, and embodied enquiry for practitioners and teachers who want depth without dogma. My work is for curious, reflective people who care about integrity, history, and lived experience. I bring a critical yet devotional lens — drawing on scholarship, contextual reflection and contemplative practice so yoga philosophy transcends just learning about something, or following something without question, instead becoming a meaningful practice of enquiry: into our practice, teaching, and life.
In ancient and premodern traditions, philosophy was not primarily an abstract or intellectual pursuit. It was a way of life — a set of practices through which reflection, contemplation, and embodied enquiry helped people orient themselves, shape their actions, and live with greater clarity and meaning.
Today, there is a growing interest in yogic and spiritual philosophies, yet much of what is on offer can feel overwhelming, overly theoretical, or disconnected from the realities of modern life. These practical embodied philosophy workshops offer a different approach: where philosophical ideas are explored through gentle movement, reflection, and lived enquiry. Rather than focusing on mastering concepts, the emphasis is on orientation: returning to what matters, refining perception, and learning how philosophy can be practiced in everyday life.

Hi - I'm Floss
Yoga and philosophy teacher, scholar–practitioner, and lifelong student of embodied wisdom.
My work bridges scholarship and practice — making the history and philosophy of yoga accessible, alive, and relevant to how we live today.
In my online world, I create spaces where practice meets reflection; where philosophy becomes something lived, felt, enquired into and discovered through both body and mind. In particular, I love working with yoga teachers and serious practitioners who are ready to find a more meaningful connection to yoga and philosophy in their own lives and teaching.

The Embodying Philosophy as a Way of Life Podcast
In modern times, philosophy is often seen as abstract and intellectual but, in the past, philosophy was a way of life. where theory and practice went hand in hand. Embodied philosophy recognises that all philosophical enquiry is grounded in time, space, and body. It is about reflecting on our lives, practices (including yoga), and values within community as we seek deeper understanding and meaning in our lives.
