A Free Resource for the Curious and Reflective Yogi: What is Philosophy and How to Bring it Into Our Practice, Teaching & Life?

FREE E-BOOK

If you're drawn to the history and philosophy of yoga—not just as abstract ideas, but as tools for deepening your practice, teaching, and life—this short e-book is for you.

Inside, you’ll find a clear and thoughtful introduction to a powerful idea:
In the past, philosophy and practice went hand in hand—philosophy wasn’t separate from life, but a way of living with awareness, enquiry, and care.

This guide invites you to reconnect with that approach.

What’s inside:

  • Reflections on how yoga philosophy and practice support each other

  • A gentle introduction to two key ideas: the aim of practice, and how we understand reality

  • Journaling prompts to help you explore what these themes mean for you—in your body, your life, and your teaching

It’s not about memorising or believing—it’s about opening space for reflection, curiosity, and integration that helps us live more meaningful lives.

"I wrote this guide for fellow teachers and practitioners who, like me, want to root their yoga in something deeper than the surface. To recognise that yoga philosophy isn’t just about applying ancient concepts to modern life—but about entering into a living relationship: with ourselves, with others, with tradition. Embodying philosophy as a way of life turns philosophical enquiry into a space of ongoing reflection—a way to explore and pursue meaning, value, and goodness in how we live, practice, and teach."

About me Floss Harry

Hi, I’m Floss—a yoga teacher, facilitator, and researcher with a background in philosophy, theology, and embodied practice. I hold an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, where I explored the relationship between philosophy and lived experience.

Through my teaching and courses, I help yoga practitioners and teachers connect with the deeper roots of yoga history and philosophy, as well as exploring other religious and spiritual traditions. For me, these philosophical ideas are not just as something to study, but as something to reflect on and enquire into.

This guide is a small offering from that wider journey.
