Guest workshop with Dr Ankur Barua Explore bhakti as "a habit of the heart" through idioms of steadfastness, attachment, and dedication. Understand how Bhakti (devotion) relates to yoga practice, to inspire your teaching, practice and life. The term bhakti has a continuum of meanings such as unswerving devotion, wholehearted commitment, and passionate attachment. In this introductory talk, Cambridge University lecturer, Dr Ankur Barua, will highlight how bhakti has been presented in some scriptural texts and Vedāntic traditions as a vital aspect of disciplines aimed at cultivating an “integral” self. In such disciplines, the languages of bhakti and yoga are intertwined: the movement towards a state beyond all fragmentation, inner as well as outer, is said to involve the meditative attention of the mind-body-heart complex.
